SOME GREAT NEWS!

Posted: Wednesday, 14 October 2020 at 4.15pm

We are delighted to have been awarded a grant from the Government’s Cultural Recovery Fund. The fund, managed by Arts Council England, is aimed at supporting organisations to balance their books and stay viable until the end of March 2021. Being successful means that we can now plan with greater certainty knowing that we will have sufficient funds to keep The Landmark viable even with a much reduced programme.

We are now working on events in the run up to Christmas, including a week of mixed live performances and the Landmark Festive Emporium arts & crafts event, and will publish details as soon as possible.

Lesley Bossine, Centre Manager, said:

This lifeline by the government is wonderful news. However, it is a temporary reprieve. If the current restrictions continue what we are allowed to do is not enough to fully cover our costs, so our need to fundraise will continue. However this is a stark contrast to the position we faced in March when we were looking at winding up in mid-May. That we were able to be around to even apply to this fund has only been possible thanks to the generosity, kindness and active support of our community.

Martin Nicholds, chair of trustees, commented:

We are conscious that whilst we have been successful in getting a grant, other arts organisations will not have been. All of us at The Landmark wish them much luck and encourage you to support them in whatever way you can.

The Landmark continues its fundraising effort to save the centre from permanent closure. Under current social distancing regulations, live performances remain difficult financially with a 329-seating capacity reduced to 70.

So, if you are able to, please…

Thank you
Martin Nicholds, Chairman of the Trustees

Coronavirus & The Landmark

Posted: Tuesday, 17 March 2020

In the light of the Government’s announcement yesterday, the Landmark has decided that we should play our part in fighting the spread of the virus by suspending our activities until further notice. We are seeking to re-arrange as many events and classes as we can for a later date and will publish updates on our website and via social media.

Our team will be contacting affected patrons as quickly as possible, but it will take us time to do so. Please bear with us.

The Landmark is an unsubsidised charity and this unprecedented situation will have a significant financial impact on us. We need your support now more than ever. If you are able to donate £5 please text LACL01 to 70970.

We look forward to welcoming you back at a later date. In the meantime, thank you for your support and understanding at this difficult time. We hope you and your loved ones stay healthy.
