Classics in the Afternoon

A short series of intimate Sunday afternoon concerts featuring four groups of outstanding chamber musicians. Ticket price includes tea and cake and if you book two or more concerts you’ll receive a series discount.

The Simon Ferris Trio has appeared the UK since its formation fifteen years ago and specialises in juxtaposing the huge contrasts in style found in the Piano Trio genre.

In this exciting programme, Mendelssohn’s ever-popular and lyrical Piano Trio in D minor will sit alongside the turbulent Shostakovich Trio no.2 composed in the midst of the Second World War.

Anthea Fry – An Afternoon at the Theatre

Café

Anthea Fry (piano) was a prize-winning student at the Royal Academy of Music under the guidance of Robin Wood and Max Pirani. A Wigmore Hall debut led to engagements around the UK, on London’s South Bank and in Europe and USA. She performs widely as soloist and chamber musician and tours the world as a music examiner.

Her programme for this concert is based on themes from opera and ballet.

Joseph Spooner and Nicola Garty

Joseph Spooner (cello) and Nicola Garty (piano) present a programme of beautiful and fascinating works, including the great Sonata no. 1 by Brahms.

Joseph has performed around the world and is an established recording artist specialising in lesser-known repertoire.

As a pianist Nicola appears primarily as a chamber musician, but she also has a parallel career as a violinist and teacher.

Trifarious

Classical, jazz… fusion

Trifarious is Tim Redpath (clarinet/bass clarinet), Rachel Calaminus (violin/viola) and Nadine André (piano), who together fuse classical, jazz and world influences into a diverse instrumental combination. Breaking away from the standard trio format, Trifarious sets out to broaden the spectrum of the trio genre. Their acclaimed debut CD ‘Russian Roulette’ was released in June 2015, and their second album will be released in 2018.

  • Train: Waterloo to Teddington (33 minutes), then just over 10 minutes' signposted walk
  • Bus: R68, 281, 285 all stop outside the Centre; 33 via Waldegrave Road
  • Tube: District line to Richmond and then bus R68
  • Cycle: on-site parking for up to 12 bicycles
  • Car: no parking on site but free parking in surrounding streets.

How to Book…

  • Online: where indicated
  • In person or by phone: Box Office open Monday – Friday, 9.30am – 4pm (and from 1pm on the day of weekend performances). Telephone bookings (card only): 020 8977 7558
  • By post: send an SAE and a cheque payable to ‘Landmark Arts Centre’ to our address.

Please note…

  • Booking fees: a £1 fee applies to all card transactions; a 50p postage fee applies if you wish to have your tickets posted and haven’t supplied an SAE.
  • Refunds: we cannot refund tickets or class bookings unless the event or class is full and we are able to re-sell the ticket / class place. An admin. fee of £1 will be deducted from the refund.

  • Concessions: available to LAC members and others as noted for the event, workshop or class.
  • LAC gift vouchers (£5, £10, £20): use towards the cost of LAC concerts and education classes. Valid for 12 months. Buy in any combination – visit the LAC office, or telephone us.
