Accessibility, Privacy, Third Party Websites

To comply with the Equality Act 2010 this website aims, within the constraints of the limited resources of a modest charity, to meet the Level AA requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.

Measures taken

We have:

  • structured the pages of the website in relation to each other in what we believe is a straightforward way with a straightforward method of navigation
  • structured the contents of each page in a straightforward way using the recommended content markers to assist navigation, for instance by someone using a screen reader, and to assist understanding of the structure of the content.
  • followed recognised good practices in the coding of the website, and
  • used a recommended automated checker (WAVE Web Accessibility Tool from the Web Accessibility Evaluation Tools List) on a simple and a complex page, assessed the results, and where we understand it to be necessary, corrected the coding, if necessary site-wide.

Minimum contrast levels

As this probably affects the most people, our intention is to always meet the minimum contrast requirements, particularly for important information, for instance in event or class listings. However, with some of the seasonal colour schemes this can be difficult to achieve in some of their aspects. In those aspects, we aim to remain close to the minimum requirements.

Larger text

Should you prefer larger text, on non-mobile devices:

  • web browsers, particularly the most commonly used ones, include a magnification facility, and
  • some web browsers include a facility to enlarge just the text.

Should you encounter any accessibility problems, please let us know the details so that we can address the issue(s).
